In Malta, the best event ticketing platform is the one that meets your event’s needs, makes buying simple for local buyers and visitors alike, and leaves you in control of your sales. PassPass, our ticketing platform, gives you your own sales page in English, lets you choose who pays the fees and brings everything around the sale into a single tool, with a team that answers you in English. We compared it with ShowsHappening, EventWorks and TicketLane, from Malta, Eventbrite, from the United States, and Ticket Tailor, from the United Kingdom.

1. A ticketing platform that meets your event’s needs

Every event has its own needs. A summer festival sells in waves and checks hundreds of entries in an hour, a conference needs precise information at registration, and a theatre needs a seating plan. Before you choose, list what you will need, then check that the ticketing platform does it without adding another tool.

On PassPass, the tools below are part of the ticketing, with no extra module to add.

Depending on your event, additional solutions can be added in the same tool: a seating plan for a theatre, badge printing and invoicing for a corporate event, and white-label ticketing to sell under your own name.

2. A ticketing platform that is simple for your buyers and for you

In Malta, many of your buyers are not on the island yet when they buy. Malta welcomed more than 4 million tourists in 2025, according to the National Statistics Office, and a visitor staying for a few days buys on their phone, often with a card issued abroad, and will not create an account for a single evening. Residents arrive from a story or a message, on their phone too. If the page is slow, if it is not in English or if buyers have to create an account before paying, some of them give up. A good ticketing platform reduces buying to a few clear steps, with the payment methods your buyers already use.

On PassPass, the buyer chooses their tickets, enters their details and pays with Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay or Google Pay, without creating an account. The sales page is in English, and the tickets arrive by email and in the phone’s Wallet, ready to be scanned at the entrance. Try it yourself on an event that is on sale before you choose.

Try the purchase flow in your colours

Have your website analysed so that the demo picks up your colours and styles.

The ticketing platform is also the tool you will spend time in: following your sales, adjusting a price, adding a guest, replying to a buyer. A well-designed platform that is fast and easy to get to grips with saves you that time, so you can focus on your event.

PassPass was designed in 2024 to keep to the essentials. A simple ticketing setup is ready in a few minutes, and the dashboard shows your sales, revenue and attendees at a glance.

3. A team that supports you from start to finish

Questions often come up at the wrong time, the day before sales open or on the morning of the event. A good ticketing platform does not leave you alone with a help page. It helps you set up your event, advises you according to your needs and answers quickly when it matters.

At PassPass, a person from our team answers you in English, in the same time zone as Malta. We go through the setup with you, we advise you according to your event, and we stay available during sales and on the day. Once you feel comfortable, you manage your events on your own.

“The platform is clear, user-friendly and useful, both for showcasing our events and managing the transaction flow. Above all, I can feel the energy of a young dedicated team that maintains a partner approach rather than simply a supplier one.”

4. You stay in control of your ticket sales

In Malta, choosing a ticketing platform often means choosing between a local marketplace and a tool you run yourself. On the local marketplaces, the booking fee is added to the buyer’s price by default, and in return your event is listed alongside others on their site. With a tool you run yourself, you decide what your sales page shows, who pays the fees and how you use your attendee list.

Before you commit, check what you receive for each ticket, who owns your buyers’ contact details and if you are free to leave when you wish.

On PassPass, the fees are known in advance, payment fees included, and you choose whether to cover them yourself or pass them on to the buyer. The details are on our Pricing page. Your attendee list belongs to you and can be exported at any time, and there is no subscription or commitment.

5. Data protection and GDPR compliance

A ticketing platform stores your buyers’ names, email addresses and sometimes their answers to your form. As the organiser, you are responsible for this data under GDPR, so choose a reliable provider that tells you where the data is hosted and how it is protected.

At PassPass, all data stays in the European Union, and the platform was designed for GDPR from the start. Payments go through Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified provider, and you only ask your buyers for the information you need.

The local platforms charge a percentage of the ticket price, so their fee rises with your price, whereas the PassPass fee combines a percentage and a fixed amount per ticket. On a €20 ticket, PassPass charges €1.00, payment fees included, against €1.60 on EventWorks, €2.00 plus Stripe fees on ShowsHappening and €2.20 in total on TicketLane, and on a €10 ticket, PassPass and EventWorks cost the same. Do the calculation with your own prices before you choose.

Fees and features checked on 23 October 2026 on the public pages of each platform: the ShowsManager pricing page for ShowsHappening, and the pricing pages of EventWorks, TicketLane and Ticket Tailor. TicketLane does not say whether card fees are included, and Ticket Tailor shows its prices in pounds. The origin of EventWorks comes from its organiser terms, which are governed by Maltese law. Eventbrite gives no ticketing fee for Malta in its help centre, which also states that Eventbrite Payment Processing is not offered there, so organisers use PayPal. The details of PassPass’s fees, and what you receive for each ticket, are on our Pricing page.

The ticketing platforms one by one

PassPass

PassPass is a European ticketing platform launched in 2024 for events of any size. You create your event in a few minutes, and your buyers pay on a sales page in English, by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, without creating an account, then receive their tickets in their Wallet. Promo codes, guests, the registration form, sales tracking and entry scanning are managed in one place, and if your event needs them, the seating plan, badges and invoicing can be added in the same tool. You decide who pays the fees, you or your buyers. Our team helps you get started in English, in the same time zone as Malta, then you manage everything on your own, with no subscription or commitment, and your data remains yours. PassPass is not a marketplace that Maltese buyers browse to find an evening out, so your sales come from your own channels, such as your social media, your website and your mailing list.

ShowsHappening

ShowsHappening is a Maltese ticketing marketplace whose main asset is that your event is listed alongside those of other organisers. According to its ShowsManager pricing page, checked on 23 October 2026, the buyer pays a booking fee of 10% of the ticket price by default, which adds €2.00 to a €20 ticket, and the organiser pays the Stripe payment fees on top. Free invitations are included up to 10% of your sales, then each one costs €1 plus VAT, and the Pro plan, with bespoke pricing, is on request.

EventWorks

EventWorks is a Maltese ticketing platform whose main asset is a single rate of 8% per ticket, with card and bank fees included, according to its pricing page checked on 23 October 2026. Because that rate is a percentage, it rises with your ticket price, to €1.60 on a €20 ticket, against €1.00 on PassPass. There is no self-service sign-up, since getting started goes through a 30-minute demo call with its team, followed by a demo account.

TicketLane

TicketLane is a ticketing platform based in Malta, on which you can sign up online in two minutes. For a paid event, according to its pricing page checked on 23 October 2026, the buyer pays a booking fee of 9% and you pay a platform fee of 2% of your revenue, which comes to €2.20 in total on a €20 ticket, against €1.00 on PassPass. At the reduced rate for NGOs and student organisations, the buyer still pays 7%. Its pages do not say whether card fees are included, and they do not mention seating plans.

Eventbrite

Eventbrite is an American platform known to the general public, whose main asset is its international marketplace, where your event sits alongside those of other organisers. For everything else, it is self-service. On 23 October 2026, its help centre gave no ticketing fee for Malta and stated that Eventbrite Payment Processing is not offered there, so organisers in Malta take payments through PayPal. With PayPal, reserved seating is not supported, according to Eventbrite.

Ticket Tailor

Ticket Tailor is a UK platform whose main asset is a flat fee per ticket, published in pounds rather than euros. According to its pricing page, checked on 23 October 2026, it charges £0.60 per ticket plus tax on pay-as-you-go, or from £0.22 with prepaid credits bought in advance. Ticket Tailor does not handle the payment itself, so you connect your own Stripe, PayPal or Square account, which charges its own payment fees on top, and its seating charts cost one extra credit per reserved seat.

By type of event

Summer festival or concert

In summer, open-air festivals and concerts draw residents and visitors, and many tickets are bought on a phone from social media, sometimes only a few days before the event. You often sell in waves, with a first price that sells out quickly. On PassPass, you open each wave when you want, you follow sales by source to see which posts bring buyers, and your buyers receive their tickets in their Wallet. See our ticketing pages for festivals and for concerts.

Party or club night

For a club night in Paceville or a boat party, sales are made in the last few days and entry has to be quick. On PassPass, tickets arrive in your buyers’ Wallet, guests come in through a list or a code, and your team scans entries from their phones. See our ticketing for parties.

Corporate event, conference or seminar

Conferences and corporate events in Malta often welcome attendees who fly in from abroad. You need the right information at registration (company, job title, workshops), badges on arrival and sometimes invoices for companies. PassPass brings together the custom form, on-site badge printing and, as an add-on, invoicing. See our ticketing for professional events and for seminars and conferences.

Theatre or show with reserved seating

With fixed seats, a seating plan lets everyone choose their seat and lets you sell each section at its own price. At PassPass, our team creates the plan from your existing one, then you check it and set your prices. Your buyers choose their seat from their phone, and each sale takes the seat on the plan straight away. See our ticketing for shows and our seating plan ticketing.

Non-profit, band club or free event

Band clubs, associations and NGOs often run free and paid events across the year, from a concert to a fundraising dinner. Free tickets cost nothing on PassPass, even alongside paid tickets, and you keep your attendee list so you can follow up with them. Reduced or member prices work through codes, and your volunteers scan tickets at the entrance with their phones. For a paid fundraiser, you can pass the fees on to the buyer and receive the full price you set for each ticket. See our ticketing for non-profits and our article on free online ticketing.

Sports event

A water polo match, a football game or a race needs tickets for each type of audience and fast access control when people arrive. PassPass handles the ticket types, codes for clubs and entry scanning from phones. See our ticketing for sports events.

Additional solutions

Ticketing is enough for most events. Depending on your event, you may need more: a seating plan for a theatre or a cultural centre, badges and invoices for a corporate event, or ticketing in your own name for a venue or a festival that sells under its own brand.

At PassPass, these solutions are connected to your ticketing and managed in the same place. Everything stays in sync. A sale takes the seat on the plan, adds the attendee to the badge list and prepares their invoice, with no export and no other software to connect.
